Algorithms don’t decide, corporate decisions and people do. In this workshop, the participants will go through a journey of exploration to identify issues effecting the society in the internet ecosystem and the technical, social and policy-work behind it that made it possible.
Handan Uslu is a mechanical engineer, painter, and founder of Turkey’s first Internet Observatory – Gözlemevi Center for Internet and Society Research. She holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, BA in Economics, and a Master degree from the Communication, Culture and Technology programme in Georgetown University. Before founding Gözlemevi, she was a strategist at Google’s European Headquarters in Ireland, working for the Trust & Safety division’s operations in Turkey. Her work focuses on technological investigations, technology policy enforcement, and human-centric technology design.
